Google Home Review

Google Home is a universal hub for all your smart home devices, Chromecast, entertainment, and scheduling. Using the app, you can obtain control over the entire home directly from your mobile device. The app is available for iOS and Android and lets you interconnect thousands of smart home devices by leading manufacturers from all over the world.

Set of Functions

Google Home offers you a simple and convenient solution for interconnecting all your smart home devices via your family’s mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets. The app lets you control over 3000 smart products, including lights, media systems, Cali Home, thermostats, cameras, WiFi hotspots, and many more. The list of compatible brands and items expands every month, so it’s easy to find something that fits your design and complies with your needs.

The app can learn your behaviors and remember what you often do. Using this information, it creates quick-access buttons for repeated actions. However, you can delete and edit them to make things even simpler. The app is also compatible with Nest smart systems and all the unique settings of these items. By connecting your home to the app, you achieve an ability to control it without the need to move!

Design

The interface of the app is straightforward, so you’re not likely to need tutorials to learn how to use it. The layout of controls on the home screen may depend on the number of connected devices as well as on their types. You can either sort them by types (thermostats, speakers, cameras, etc.) or by rooms. To add a new item, just press the plus button in the upper left corner and follow the instructions. Most things that you may need during the day are available via the home feed.

Price

Google Home app is available for free for all supported devices, independently from the number of devices you want to control. There are no paid features, so you have to pay only for the devices you wish to install around your house and yard. Besides, it requires a permanent Internet connection over your WiFi router, which works even if your WiFi router is not connected to the web. If you want to connect to your house remotely, you have to join a public WiFi network or use your mobile Internet plan.

5 Great

Google Home is the biggest rival of Amazon Alexa and Apple Home. It offers a large list of compatible devices along with convenient control features and scheduling. It’s easy to connect devices and see what happened around your house during the day with one-minute precision. This app lets you stay connected to your home anywhere you go, which is an excellent security solution. Unfortunately, the service is still a bit buggy, but the fixes come every now and then, so it’s definitely worth a try.
