Johnny Trigger Review
Johnny Trigger is an epic 2.5D tactical shooter game with puzzle elements by the SayGames studio, the developer of 26 hit games for iOS and Android. Some of them are Snow Drift, Indie Painter, and Turbo Stars. You Play Johnny Trigger, a special forces agent undercover whose mission is to take down a powerful Mafiosi grouping with nothing but a bunch of guns. Jump around as insane as possible and shoot all the bullets you have to defeat criminals! Johnny Trigger is available on the App Store and Google Play for free. Ads are removable with a one-time Premium version purchase.
Bullet Hell
The gameplay of Johnny Trigger consists of short-time shootouts. Every mission includes 2 stages on which you have to take down several criminals using a limited amount of buttons. You are always alone, while 3 or even more mafia gunners try to shoot you down at the same time. They are usually quite cunning and choose the most convenient spots for shooting, so you have to be very fast and accurate to shoot them before their bullets reach Johnny. Fortunately, your tries are not limited, so that you can replay each stage as many times as you need to get the highest score and unlock the next one.
Johnny’s gun is always charged with 6 bullets, so you have to shoot each one in the right direction to succeed. Otherwise, they will hunt you down very fast and kill all hostages.
Just a Few Taps
Every stage will take you only a few taps to shoot every enemy, but each tap must be very precise. Due to his top-level secret service training, Johnny can shoot while in the air or on the run. It means that you can undertake any stunt that comes into your head without difficulties. The game has responsive touch controls that let you implement nearly any strategy that comes into your head.
2.5D. Not 3D
The Johnny Trigger game features volumetric visuals of the 2.5D type. It makes all scenes look like they are 3D, but it’s still impossible to rotate the camera around the scene. At this point, the whole game sticks to platform traditions established by games like Rayman and Mario. On the other hand, the game doesn’t feature continuous progression. It means that you progress by completing short static-scene stages.
Pros
- Hundreds of unique levels;
- Catchy gameplay mechanics;
- Challenging levels with limited bullets;
- Free daily rewards;
- Dozens of new levels with every update.
Cons
- No way to upgrade Johnny’s abilities;
- Too many ads if you play online.
